Adding Text and Text Boxes

Adding a New Text Box Form

The Text Box from is used for placing and editing short (less than 255 character) text annotations on a bubble chart. Select the Text Tool by clicking the Text tool button on the Drawing Palette toolbar.

Move the cursor to point in the chart area where you want to place the text box, hold down the mouse button and move it slightly. This will open the text box form.

Example: Below is an example of the resulting text box from the Text Box Editor shown at the top of this page:

The Text Area: Use this area to enter your text (up to 250 characters)

Font Preferences:

[Type] drop-down menu: Use this menu to select the desired font type.

[Size] drop-down menu: Use this menu to select the desired font size in points

[Bold], [Italic], and [Underline] check boxes: Use these check boxes to select your desired color.

[Font Color] selection: Click this square to open the system Color Picker form to select the font color for the text box.

Text Box Preferences:

[Use Color Fill] checkbox: When this checkbox is selected, you can select a color fill for the text box. If it is not selected, the box will be transparent.

[Fill Color] selection: Click this square to open the system Color Picker form to select the fill color for the text box.

[Stroke Width] drop-down menu: Use this menu to select the stroke width for the text box.

[Stroke Color] selection: Click this square to open the system Color Picker form to select the color for the text box stroke. This box is disabled if the stroke width is "None."

[Use Drop Shadow] checkbox: When this checkbox is selected, the text box will be displayed with a drop shadow.

Moving and Editing Text Boxes:

Editing a Text Box: Double-click on a text box to open it for editing in this form.

Moving and changing the size: Click and hold on a on a text box to select it. A red rectangular frame around the text box perimeter will appear with one handle on each side. Clicking again and dragging a handle with the mouse down will let you change the size of the text box. Clicking and dragging the selected text box will move it in the bubble chart form.

[Cancel] button: Click this button to permanently delete all drawings from the frontmost bubble chart.

[Saving] button: Select this button to close the toolbar.
