The New Portfolio View Form
Form Overview
The New Portfolio View form is used to create a Portfolio View. The form displays a name field, color and pattern palette pop-up buttons for selecting the associated view color and pattern, and buttons for saving the view or cancelling the process.
A portfolio is a set of projects that are being ranked based on the parameters in a parent decision model. Portfolios are displayed and modified in the Portfolio form. Portfolio views are user saved subsets of projects that can be easily recalled in the portfolio form by clicking on the name of the view in the Portfolio Views List form. When the name of a view is selected, the portfolio form and all open child charts associated with that portfolio are re-drawn to reflect the projects in that view.
Each portfolio view is assigned a color and pattern combination by the user using the color and pattern pop-up buttons. This color and pattern combination is displayed to represent the view in the Efficient Frontier form. This makes it easy to compare different portfolio views relative to the efficient frontiers.
The New Portfolio View form is opened by using the [New View] button under the Portfolio View List Box. This button is enabled when one or more projects have been selected (highlighted) in the portfolio form. When the [Save] button is clicked, the view contains the projects selected at the time the form was opened.
The portfolio views can be edited using the Modify Portfolio Views Form.
Creating a Portfolio View
- Open the portfolio and click on [Show Views] button to display the Portfolio Views List.
- Select the projects that you want to save in a view.
- Click the [New View] button. This will open the New Portfolio View form.
- Enter the name for the new view and select a color for the efficient frontier display.
- If you are creating a Portfolio View for a simulation-prioritized portfolio, select the number of simulations that you want to execute when creating the view. The number is based on a per-project basis, so if you have a subset of 10 projects and you select "100," the portfolio will be run in 1,000 (10*100) simulations.
- Click on [Save] to save the new view.
Portfolio View Name field:
Enter the name of the new Portfolio View in this field. The portfolio view name must be unique to the associated portfolio, and cannot exceed 32 characters including spaces.
Portfolio Views Drop-Down Menu:
Number of Simulations per Project drop-down menu: (For Simulation-Prioritization portfolios only) Use this menu to select the number of simulations that you want to have performed to create your Portfolio View. The number is based on a per-project basis, so if you have a subset of 10 projects and you select "500," the portfolio will be run in 5,000 (10*500) simulations. Note that this menu does not appear as an option on portfolios that were not created using the Optsee prioritizer.
