The Sensitivity Chart Display Form

Form Overview

This form displays a single Sensitivity chart. In the chart area, the chart name is displayed at the top and the attribute name is displayed at bottom.

Figure 1: Sensitivity Chart for the "Cost" Attribute

Figure 1 (above) displays a sensitivity chart for the "Cost" attribute. This chart displays the change in project SMART overall value scores as the cost changes from $435 to $7,455. The bubble placement represents the current cost for that project. For illustration, Project Delphinus would have SMART overall value score of 79 if it cost $435 and a SMART overall value score of ~66 if it cost $7,455. The line lets you determine the intermediate cost-to-overall-value relationship

Figure 2 (below) displays a sensitivity chart for the "Cost" attribute weight. This chart displays the change in project SMART overall value scores as the cost weight changes from 0 to 6,000. The bubble placement on the X-axis represents the current weight for the attribute. The bubble placement on the y-axis represents the current SMART overall value for the project. For illustration, Project Aries would have SMART overall value score of 58 if the cost weight was 0 and a SMART overall value score of 59 if the cost weight was 6,000.

The Legend area displays the item name next to a small representation of that item's bubble and line. You can display the legend in different ways using the Sensitivity Chart Preferences form. You can also turn off the bubbles display and just display the lines by using the Sensitivity Chart Preferences.

You can open and modify an item by double-clicking on a bubble in the chart area or on a bubble or name in the Legend area. This will cause the corresponding Item form to be displayed.

Legends can be sorted by clicking on the headers at the top of the legend area. The number in the legend corresponds to the projects' current SMART ranking.

Changes to the chart display are made using the Sensitivity Chart Preferences form, which is opened by clicking on the [Modify] button at the bottom of the bubble chart legend area or selecting the File->Preferences menu item.

You can set the initial size of the bubble chart window using the Set Chart Size form and you can adjust the chart size by dragging the lower right corner.

Each time a Sensitivity Chart is opened, the Drawing Tools Toolbar is opened with the chart (if it isn't already displayed).

You can also print and export the chart displayed in this form using the standard "Print" and "Export" menu items under the "File" menu.

The Sensitivity Chart Display Form Buttons:

After clicking [Draw Zoom Box], you define the area that you want to isolate by dragging the mouse. When you release the mouse, the bubble chart is redrawn to only display the area defined by the zoom box. See Using Zoom-Boxes for more information.

[Zoom Box Off] button: Click this buttons to restore the chart to its original display parameters.
