What's new in Version 5.3.1:

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed a bug that caused an error message if a bubble chart was drawn using a Category Attribute as an axis parameter, but no projects had selected Categories for that attribute. Projects with unselected categories are now displayed in bubble charts along a parameter line labled "Select."
  • Fixed a bug that prevented a Category attribute that was originally created from a Numerical attribute that had the [Lower Values are Better] checkbox selected from unchecking that checkbox. In Version 5.3.1, the [Lower Values are Better] is automatically unchecked and disabled because it does not apply to Category attributes.

Earlier Update History:

What's new in Version 5.3:

User-Interface Changes:

  • Categorical data column can now use both Project data and the Category value assignments as the High and Low vaues for SMART Prioritization.

Bug Fixes:

  • The Tool tip for the Dashboard in the Portfolio List form was corrected.

What's new in Version 5.2:

User-Interface Changes:

  • Categorical data column categories are now saved when the Attribute Preferences form is saved. In earlier versions, Attribute categories were saved independently of the Attribute Preferences.
  • The Add Category and Edit Category forms have been modified.
  • The Attribute Category listbox columns are now sortable by clicking the column headers in the Attribute Preferences form.
  • Error messages are now displayed when an incorrect or invalid date is created for a project. The user is prompted to fix the invalid date before the data can be saved.
  • Users can now select to use identical data columns in all bubble chart data using the chart axes label pop-up menus.
  • When selecting to change the displayed data on a chart using the chart axes label pop-up menus, the new data is automatically loaded and saved using the default data limits.

Bug Fixes:

  • Under some circumstances, setting non-default chart axis limits in 3D Bubble Charts did not draw the chart as the user intended. This has been fixed in Version 5.2.
  • Date-formatted column data was offered as a selection in the pop-up menus for bubble size in charts. This has been fixed in Version 5.2.
  • Date-formatted column data was excluded as a selection in the pop-up menus for the vertical axis in 3D bubble charts. This has been fixed in Version 5.2.
  • A bug causing chart categories not to save properly or display in the specified order in the charts has been fixed in Version 5.2.
  • A bug causing chart categories not to draw correctly after moving on a bubble chart has been fixed in Version 5.2.
  • A bug causing the "undo" menu edit item not to work correctly has been fixedin Version 5.2.

What's new in Version 5.01:

Optsee® 5.01 is the minor update of the Optsee® 5 application series.

User-Interface Changes:

  • Improved the Alert dialog warning that an entered date is incorrect because of formatting or it is an invalid date. The alert now displays the invalid date and where it is located in the form.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed a bug that could allow a user to enter and save an invalid date.

What's new in Version 5.0:

Optsee® 5.0 is the first marketed version of the Optsee® 5 application series.

New Features:

  • Added the capability to change the X-, Y-, Z-, axis and the bubble size data "on the fly" by clicking the object in the chart area to open a popup menu.

User-Interface Changes:

  • Added Alert dialogs warning that changes in the portfolio data will make optimization results potentially invalid.
  • Improved the speed in which a checkmark is drawn in a column after clicking.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed a bug that caused optimization progress line to be drawn outside the chart borders.
  • Fixed bug that caused the "Undo" function not to work correctly after a bubble was moved on the form.
  • Fixed bug that caused "Forced-In" and "Forced-Out' columns not to behave properly in relationship to eadh other.

What's new in Beta 5.8:

New Features:

  • Added the capability in Optsee® Pro and Optsee® Plus to optimize project portfolios using user-selected Efficient Frontier values so that portfolios can be optimized to maximize return-per-unit-of-input, such as maximizing unit of profit per unit of cost by optimizing against multiple constraints.
  • Added the capability to change the X- and Y-axis of Efficient Frontier charts by clicking on the axis label.

User-Interface Changes:

  • Added an extra popup menu to the optimization forms to select the denominator attribute for efficient frontier optimizations.
  • Added a field to the optimization results form to display the final return-per-unit-of-input for efficient frontier optimizations.
  • Removed the now obsolete default calculation used in optimizations for efficient frontiers.
  • Added a column to the to the optimizations list form to display denominator attribute for efficient frontier optimizations.
  • The Efficient Frontier charts are now automatically opened using the last saved parameters.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed bug in the Portfolio form that prevented the horizontal splitter between the data and optimization listboxes from working properly after a new optimization had been added.
  • Fixed bug in the Dashboard form to improve the performance of the verticle splitter between the listboxes.

What's new in Beta 5.7:

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed bug in the Portfolio form that prevented the horizontal splitter between the listboxes from working properly.
  • Fixed bug in the Portfolio form that prevented the bottom listbox buttons from becoming inaccessible or moving outside the window when the form was being re-sized.

What's new in Beta 5.6:

New Features:

  • Added a [Cancel Quit] button to the "Back-Up on Quit" form to abort the quitting process if the user decides not to exit the application at that form.

User-Interface Changes:

  • The form columns and pop-ups previously labeled "Independent Project" and "Dependent Project" have been changed to "Project A" and "Project B," respectively.
  • The term "Dependency" has been changed to "Relationship" to reflect that not all of the "Dependency" relationships that can be assigned are "Dependencies" (i.e. some are mutual exclusions).
  • When a user clicks a checkmark column in the portfolio form, the speed in which checkmarks are drawn in the Portfolio form has been increased.
  • Changed the [Back-Up] button label on the "Back-Up on Quit" form to [Yes, Back-Up].
  • Changed the [Don't Back-Up] button label on the "Back-Up on Quit" form to [No, Quit].

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed bug in the Dashboard that caused an intermittent crash when a Dashboard displaying a chart with a specific combination of parameters was opened.
  • Fixed a bug that caused chart re-draws in the Dashboard to stop working when a new "Portfolio View" was selected after a new chart had been selected.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the "Base" and "Last" optimization columns in the Portfolio form to not display correctly in the Optimization List form or the Portfolio form.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented chart redraws when the [Select All] checkbox above the "Sel" column was clicked.
